Gruntle
Also known as: Mortal Sword of Trake | Race: Human | Warren/Affiliation: Trake (Tiger of Summer)Summary
Gruntle is a caravan guard who becomes the reluctant Mortal Sword of Trake, the Tiger of Summer and God of War. During the Siege of Capustan in Memories of Ice, he is claimed by Trake against his will, gaining tiger-like abilities and ferocity at the cost of his ordinary humanity. His transformation from cynical mercenary to divine champion is one of MoI's most powerful character arcs — a man who wanted nothing more than to drink, fight, and be left alone, drafted into the service of a god.
